Framed by an interview with adult Pi (Irrfan Khan), the primary subject of “Life of Pi” is his tale of shipwreck when Pi (

When his family chooses to move from India to Canada and sell their zoo animals, their ship unexpectedly si asics running shoe nks during a storm and Pi survives the crash only to be stuck on a lifeboat with an orangutan, a zebra, a hyena, and a tiger. Pi struggles daily, but his journey strengthens his faith.
“Life of Pi” focuses heavily on storytelling and Pi’s perspectives on life. A story within a story, Pi’s story of his trials on the lifeboat with the zoo animals is tiger shoes mexico 66  engaging and intense. The surrounding storyline is about Pi weaving a yarn that is supposed to make the writerquestioner (Rafe Spall) believe in God, and some audiences will appreciate it. However, the narrator’s conclusion does not come clos onitsuka tiger tiger corsair e to making sense to me. I cannot fully explain my disconnection without spoiling the film, but the quality of his fantastic story doesn’t lead me to life lessons. I enjoyed the philosophical and theological questioning and acceptance, especially near the beginning, though Pi’s ending does not suggest faith to me.
As a visual work, “Life of Pi” is a masterpiece. Set mostly in a lifeboat, no Hollywood film has ever made the ocean more beautiful. Sky and water blend to create an empty though stunning space for Pi to be trapped during his challenges. It is truly a delight to behold, though the 3-D is slightly overrated. It gives depth to the vastness of the ocean and makes the intensity of the tiger lunges that much more powerful, but comparisons to the 3-D of “Hugo” and “Avatar” go too far.
A note to cautious parents: if you’re hoping to take your child to a scenic film with a moral, be warned that there is still animal savagery in the film. Humanity is juxtaposed with vicious predatory nature. It is not really graphic, though.
